Privacy Policy

 

 

Financial Security Credit Union (“FSCU”) is committed to making available financial products and services that will enable you to meet your financial needs and goals.  Protecting personal information and using it in a manner consistent with your expectations is a high priority to everyone associated with this credit union.

To ensure that you can rely upon the quality of products and services that are available, the credit union stands behind the following privacy policy:

  • The credit union will collect only the personal information that is necessary to conduct our business.  That means just what is necessary to provide competitive financial products and services.  We collect information about members from documents including, but not limited to, applications and other forms, transactions on us or others, and information we receive from consumer reporting agencies.
     
  • The credit union discloses nonpublic personal information about its members and former members to companies that offer financial products and services, including insurance products.  The credit union may also disclose nonpublic information to other nonaffiliated parties, as permitted by law.
     
  • The credit union will partner only with businesses that follow strict confidentiality requirements.  FSCU will not sell member information to telemarketing firms.
     
  • Any member of the credit union may elect to limit the sharing of information with our marketing business partners.

Financial Security Credit Union will protect the personal information of its members.  This credit union will maintain strong security controls to ensure that member information in our files and computers is protected.  We limit employee access to confidential member financial information to those employees with a business reason for knowing such information.  Additionally, we maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations.

USA Patriot Act Disclosure

Pursuant to the USA Patriot Act, Section 326; Effective October 25, 2002 the Financial Security Credit Union is required to verify the identity of members applying for and opening new accounts or services with the credit union.  Information we are required to obtain include:

  • Name
  • Address and/or mailing address, if different
  • Identification number (SSN, taxpayer ID number, passport number and country of issue, alien ID card number)
  • Date of Birth
  • Copy of government issued photo ID (unexpired driver’s license, unexpired state ID, military ID, etc)

Additional data may also be gathered depending on the type of account applied for or opened.  Data on existing member will be gathered as an additional product or service is requested.

The USA Patriot Act also required FSCU to maintain all records of any documentary evidence used for verifying the member for at least five years after the date an account is closed.

Confidentiality of the information maintained by the credit union will be maintained as required under our Privacy Policy.
